COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MER­CERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 2 balls of No. 61-D Nu-Ecru; 1 ball each of No. 126 Spanish Red, No. 10-A Canary Yellow, No. 49-A Killarney and No. 76-A Aqua; and
J & P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. A. 104, Size 30: 1 ball of Ecru.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hooks No. 2/0 (double zero) and No. 10.
1 card each of red and yellow rick-rack No. 29 ... A bone ring ... A dish towel.
GAUGE: 6 sc make 1 inch; 11 rnds make 2 inches.
POT HOLDER ... Starting at center with Nu-Ecru and No 2/0 hook, ch 4. Join with a sl  st to form a ring 1st rnd: Ch 3, make 11 dc in ring. Join with a sl st to 3rd ch of ch-3. Hereafter pick up back loops only. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in same place as sl st, 2 sc in each dc around. Join to first sc. 3rd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next sc, * 2 sc in next sc (an inc), sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 2 sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st and in each sc around, in­creasing 8 sc evenly around. Join. Repeat 5th rnd until 17 rnds in all have been completed, increas­ing wherever necessary on each rnd to keep work flat. Break off.
TRIMMING ... Attach Spanish Red to any free loop on first rnd, sl st in same loop and in each free loop around. Join to first sl st and break off. Draw ends to wrong side of work and fasten. Work trimming in same manner around next 11 rnds, having 1 more rnd of Spanish Red, 2 Canary Yellow, 2 Killarney, 2 Aqua 2 Canary Yellow and 2 Spanish Red. Work around last 2 rnds of Pot Holder with Spanish Red.
Make another piece the same way. Cut a piece of red and a piece of yellow rick-rack each slightly longer than outer edge of Pot Holder. Braid both pieces together and sew around wrong side of one side of Pot Holder. With wrong sides facing, sew both pieces together. With Nu-Ecru sc closely around bone ring. Sew in place.
TOWEL EDGING (Make 2) ... Braid red and yellow rick-rack for length of towel. 1st row: Using No. 10 hook, attach Size 30 thread to first point of rick-rack, ch 5, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make a dc in same point and in next point, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint-dc made), * ch 2, make a joint-dc by making dc in same point and in next point. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 2, dc in last point. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next joint-dc, * ch 2, make a joint-dc by making dc in same place as last dc and in next joint-dc. Repeat from * across, ending with joint-dc and having last dc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Make a joint-dc over first joint-dc and in next joint-dc, * ch 2, make a joint-dc in same place as last dc and in next joint-dc. Repeat from * across, ending with last joint-dc in top of turning chain, ch 2, dc in same place. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Repeat 2nd row. Break off. Sew Edgings to both ends of towel.

INDICACIONES:


Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
1 bone ring.

GAUGE: 6 dc make 1 inch: 3 rnds make 1 inch.
Starting at center with White, ch 4. 1st rnd: 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), dc under ch on first rnd (a raised dc); * dc in next dc, dc under bar of same dc where last dc was made. Repeat from * around (12 dc and 12 raised dc). Join. Make a raised dc over each raised dc and dc over each dc, increasing 1 dc—to inc 1 dc, make 2 dc in 1 dc—in each dc section until piece measures 6 inches in diameter. Join and break off at end of last rnd. Attach Yellow and make sc in each dc around, increasing wherever necessary to keep work flat until piece meas­ures 8 inches in all. Join and break off.
Make another piece the same way. With Black em­broider numerals as shown. With wrong sides facing, attach Yellow and, working through both thicknesses, make sc in each sc around. Join and break off. With Yellow, sc closely around bone ring. Sew ring in place.
